Located near St Andrews, a short trip from the cottage takes you to the ancient ecclesiastical capital of Scotland. Sitting at the most eastern side of the Fife peninsula, St Andrews is now a golfing and tourist centre. The North Sea coastline around St Andrews is famous for sweeping sandy bays on either side of a rocky headland. Preserved and listed, the St Andrews Cathedral and nearby St Andrews Castle make an interesting day trip. The route is a signposted walking path along the shore of the Fife coast. Follow the Fife Coastal Path through coastal cottage villages and enjoy spectacular sea views and breathtaking panoramas of the Firths of Forth and Tay. The route follows the East Neuk of Fife, through picturesque fishing villages such as Elie, Anstruther, Crail, St Monans and Pittenweem.
